Fun Stuff! A miss is far better than sitting home thinking about a hit!

Squeeze the trigger, don't anticipate it...I bet all of us have done it at one time or another.

It happens to the best of us. I have been robbed the last two times I was out. First was a x3 hit and no dead pig and second I was messing with the camara too long and missed the opportunity. Going back out early Saturday for more punishment, but this time I have my good luck charm with me. My wife.

Yep, that's why I just laugh and go on.
I was busy playing with a new Angel Eye DVR that came in that morning when the pig strolled across the opening.
There was enough moonlight to clearly see him without lights or night vision.
He made a couple of circles around the edge of the brush before he finally came out.
In hindsight, if I would have gave him another minute or so, he would have been on the pig pipe and occupied!
That's the same hindsight that told me to invest in Microsoft.....

Looks like you punched the trigger and pulled up and to the left. Better luck next time. I know I've done it a time or two.

Yea we have all been there I killed three medium sized hogs at range one night. Only to miss a huge hog at 50 yards.

Yeah, it was intended to be a head shot - I usually go for a heart/lung shot.
The distance to the center of the feeder is 100 yards from the blind.
The pig was 8 to 10 yards past the feeder.
I zero for 100 yards so I was confident, just sucked at the execution.....

It's all BennyBone's fault....LOL!!
The Texas Hunting Forum night vision guys are doing a contest.
You need a night vision video of a headshot to qualify and the biggest pig to win.

The weather change in CenTex seems to be bringing out the pigs and the hunters.
There were quite a few THF hunters out the last few days and dfwroadkill posted a photo of a 252 pounder late yesterday.

Man wish I had know could have got some good ones with the W1000.

This is a good idea I think we will try this contest here in January! Minus the head shot requirement I don't like seeing all these good hogs getting away.

Vern1........just noticed that you are a Patriot Guard Rider. I wanted to publicly thank you for this huge service to our military, veterans, and our country in general. I do not ride unless I would be right there with you guys. I have met quite a few of these men and women and have thanked each and every one of them if it was possible at the time.

In NW Fla we always have a bunch of wackos trying to disrupt the honor that is being paid to a service member or their survivors. I am not sure how the Guard can remain non-violent,however this is probably why I was not meant to be in their numbers.

My deepest thanks for the service to our country and it's finest. V/R --- pruhdlr

It is an honor to be a member of the PGR and being asked by families to serve in this small way.
The PGR goes to services by invitation of family members only, never just shows up.
I have been doing PGR rides for quite a few years in Central Texas area.
I've ridden with and escorted some of the finest folks you can imagine.

The folks in service put their life on the line so you and I can enjoy freedom.
I also always thank active duty and vets for their service.

It's just the right thing to do.

When a MOA(Col. Bud Day) recipient was to be buried in a cemetery in Pensacola several weeks ago,the PG guys and gals showed up by the hundreds. His funeral and it's procession went without incident. Again,my thanks to them and you for your service to our country.

Sorry for the hi-jack......back to your OP. --- pruhdlr

It'd be great to get a contest rolling here, in August we did biggest pig on video and Brian ran away with those prizes with a 110lb sow.

September we ratcheted it up a notch with headshots and it was a quiet month until, as Vern mentioned, the death cold front moved in.

I don't think Vern is done for September, I am expecting that he will make it right with that pig and get it on video too....

I think it will be January for the contest. People will have their new Christmas toys to play with and I will be out hunting again hopefully!
