Hogs and mountain lion

Ok after the recent flooding we experienced in Palo Pinto County parts of my lease saw over 8' of water come over it I have not seen a pig in several weeks. I normally have large sounders regularly. I rotate hunting stands so they don't stray very far.

I thought maybe the water might have pushed them away for a while but I got a text from my lease owner that they have sighted a mountain lion back around my area 4 times by his neighbors and once by him while he was working fence this week.

Would a lion push the hogs off? Thoughts......

Time to add a lion to the freezer. They're good eating, all white meat.

I'd bet their kills are stealthy enough to not overly alarm a sounder (to the point of driving them away).

Yes sir, about the only predator who regularly take hog in the wild, get rid of the lion and the hogs may return. You can try running him off w dogs if you don't want to kill him.

Oh if I see him and can get a shot he will be mounted on a simulated rock ledge in my office. Always wanted one. I have seen two in the wild in my life.

RD I have heard they make good table fare as well.

I am designing a trap right now for a guy with lions on his lease. It has a compartment to hold a live lamb in it for bait. I have eaten lion too, it's ok, darn near as good as chihuahua. (don't tell my neighbors)

Out west you will see hunters trading Elk for Lion meat, it is that good!

Dan a trap like that would be great, a hunter could be in the safe area and wait for the animal too!

I'm pleased to see confirmation that I'm not the only twisted sense of humor at the table.

Mountain Lions are closely enough related to domestic cats that they have been bred to each other. I imagine Lion tastes like cat. As to how domestic cats taste- (I went through the Army Jungle survival school in Panama) trust me they taste like Chinese food. As for chihuahua; if you know anyone who speaks tagalog, they probably have the recipe. I thought I was eating barbecue beef
