I did a little test using the LWRCI Piston Six8 and a Colt M4 5.56. Dumped a mag in each of them filmed it using thermal. I was quite impressed with how cool the piston rifle stayed.

Cool video Todd, or should I say 'hot' video. An adjustable gas block can work the same as a piston upper in reducing heat.

Most direct gas are over gassed like the Colt, good to see a video showing it.

None of my rifles are piston. What is the real world advantage of using this system.

I was at a local gun range one time and a fellow there had an HK AR15 that was a piston. He did a mag dump then promptly proceeded to open the upper and handed me the bolt carrier and said "see, it's cool to the touch"

I replied cool, but secretly in my mind I thought..... Big deal?

Does this promote better accuracy? I'm not trying to sound critical, I just don't know what the advantage is.

I would think that a suppressed piston rifle could operate reliably for longer interval between cleaning?

Thanks

Heat kills parts it also keeps everything way cleaner when shooting suppressed.
