This is the boar I shot last night. I was watching the same stock tank were the sow was shot Friday night. When I spotted this lone pig coming towards the water. The wind was perfect in both of our faces! He was following a cattle trail to the water and I was about 200 yards behind him.
I was not really rushed thinking he was going to take a swim and a drink. There would be plenty of time to catch him. But he just went right on past the water!!! Now I'm at a half jog trying to close the gap but its not working.
He makes the treeline and disappears even with the thermal. Disappointed I continue on thinking he's gone for sure. Well when I get to the fence line sure enough there he is rubbing on a mesquite tree only 25 yards from me in a low spot.
Switch the pvs-14 from the helmet to the rifle bang flop DRT not even a twitch just instant dead. 6.8spc with a 120 sst.
