Went with my regular hunting buddy and his son tonight. We get to the spot and and my friend announces that he left his thermal clip on at home. No problem, we'll just just my scope after dark.

Around 930 a single boar comes out and I get the camera rolling and hand the rifle to his son to shoot.

And down he goes......

We looked for and followed blood for over an hour but came up empty handed.

He's a gonner... (somewhere). Good patience on the part of the hunter, clearing the feeder's legs and braces.

That stinks! It is amazing how much punishment those creatures can absorb!

You know, when I got home and watch the video last night it explained some of what looked like hoof drag marks some 3-400 yards away. I think that son of a gun drug himself off by the front legs and disappeared. We tracked blood up to approximately 4-500 yards away over the course of an hour or so.

Nothing goes to waste on that property. I rarely find any evidence of dead hogs later on. They are usually completely devoured within 36 hours. It's amazing.

Ha ha....most of us have had that happen! Crazy pigs! One thing I have learned here on this forum and out there is that head shots are your friend!

Here's a trail camera photo of the same hog while it was still healthy.

It doesn't look as big on film as it did on the thermal video. I know it's partially turning, but overall it looks smaller to me.

That really sucks when they take off after a solid hit like that. Good shot young man, unfortunately, they aren't all recovered.
