308 Barrel Length

Someone educate me on the AR10 barrel length and recoil relationship if any?

I know ammo weight choice, type of buffer tube and adjustable gas all play into it also but does barrel length matter.

My "assumption" is shorter barrel would cause more felt recoil but all the other googah gadgets should/could reduce recoil.

Thanks.

I do not belive barrel length has anything to do with it. Now if you SBR the .308 you may perceive more recoil since there will be a big BOOM and fireball lol.

The gas system length has more to do with recoil. The longer the gas system the smoother the gun will shoot and cycle. 16-18" is usually mid-length 20" and up is usually rifle length. Sometimes you will find an intermediate length in the 18-22" range.

You can also tame the recoil down a little with a heavier buffer and tuning the gas system(adjustable gas block or inserts)
