Sometimes you buy what is on the shelf and not what is the best bullet for the job that you cannot find.

That is my story and I am sticking to it.

I have more than a couple of various 130 grain bullets for the 6.8, please share any known working loads please.

16" and 12.5" barrels are my current focus.

Thank you in advance

Frank the box will not say 6.8. It is a bullet designed for the 270 Win, but can still be loaded for the 6.8. Just not be best option since the lighter bullet do better on animals.

I have only loaded 2 heavy bullet in the 6.8. Both in my 20.77" 7H.

Speer 130gr Spitz BTSP
30gr of 748
.3" group
only 2300 FPS

Actually shot a Axis Spike with this load. Took him down but upon further inspection didn't have enough energy to pass through from a 100 yard shot. This was when I was first reloading for the 6.8 and only bought stuff my components from local stores. Had no idea there was much better selection out there, plus this was before the wide selection that we have now.

Berger 140gr VLD
27gr of AA2200
.867" group
2560 FPS

Decent velocity and accuracy, but after many report of the jacket being too thick I decided not to take animals with it.

Both of these loads are paper killers.

Yeah that was sorta my point, there is not a 130 for a 6.8 because they are either too long or not enough powder with so much of the bullet stuffed in the brass. Just curious as I think you could load longer w a cutout mag and maybe 4 rds, was just trying to see what ******** had in mind.

They make good paper killers, since my most accurate load is with the 130.

.3" group at 100 is impressive.

Kinda turns it into a Grendal. Great for shooting paper, but it will take several to kill a hog. Just ask Brian. LMFO

Thanks for the insight wassman. It is curious that the top performer seems to be 120 and yet 130 is too heavy.

Bullet construction is key

Don't worry about it ...The wife went to the Commissary today, beef had doubled in price, so forget the steak and if I have any I will have it for the going price.

Doc just uses the wrong bullet. He doesn't reload so he is missing out on some awesome bullets. Several company's make wonderful bullets for the 6.5 that will be devastating on hogs. I sold my 6.8 and replaced it with a 6.5 Grendel. Seems to work fine.
