To my understanding the micron core size has nothing to do with the quality, or lack there of, the image. Just the size of the core itself. The smaller the micron number the smaller the overall unit can be and cheaper.

If you had 2 thermal scopes that are identical other than the objective lens size, what advantage does the larger germanium lens give you? Does it perform similar to how day scopes work, with the larger lens gathers more light, the larger germanium gathers more heat signature? Or is there...

Just a side note, the other night I sighted in my thermal by using a incense stick instead of the normal hot hands that I use. And I was extremely impressed at how much more accurately I could aim and hit and get the rifle to group by using a really small aiming point. You might try this and see...

Which difference makes the biggest significant Improvement in terms of resolution and clarity, microns or core. Is it more of a benefit to purchase a unit with a 12 micron core 320 unit or a 640 unit 17 micron?
