    Pulsar N750

I moved up from N550 to N750 about year ago too and have been happier than a pig in, well... Battery life seems better, the image sure is, and the built-in IR is far ahead of the 550's. I've played with a few thermal (hand-held) units and can see springing the $$ for a thermal scope some day...

What feed do you use in your deer feeders?

Spot on, Zen!! I do save (freeze, let thaw on the ride out) a lot of table scraps/freezer cleanout and put out in the feeder pen -- maybe not a draw when I'm on stand, but if nothing else I will thin out the coon population. Funny thing, I once drew in a pig to some leftover BBQ beans from an...

What feed do you use in your deer feeders?

I'm down to plain old corn. Much as I personally think that no pig should be able to resist that corn fermented with beer and red soda, if they are miles away, I'm sucking air. Also had too many times where a barrel/spinner clogged up with "rabbit feed." I'm also convinced that drawing in...

    First Hunt, and Elbows

Love reading these tales, Ratdog!! Thanks! As I get older (64 in a few weeks) I really appreciate stories like this. Just wish some of the younger kids had a better appreciation for how things were in the "olden days."

    First pig in new trap

Nicely done! Bet he had attitude- Is that three separate drop-down trapdoors?

    Hog Decoys

You have a good eye, Ratdog! Actually it's double cardboard, with lots of flat black Krylon and a piece of baling wire holding it to a stob. Never really (yet) had any hogs drop by when it was out, even while playing the baby-pig-in-distress on the FoxPro. Coyotes, on the other hand, WILL...

    Hog Decoys

    Is it real or Memorex?:

    Basic Lesson...

...learned the hard way. I kept wondering how come I had lots of pigs in the trap on camera, but only 2 or 3 when I showed up. One picture and it dawned on me: cover the top of the darn saloon door frame too!

Hunting Photos post your pics here!

Yep, love the .45/70--my first boar was by moonlight with a Ruger No. 3 and 300 gr HPs. Was up in a blind watching a feeder pen and had cows grazing all around all evening. Along about 2 am I was dozed off and woke with a big black thing in the pen. Thought it was a calf at first, then...

Hunting Photos post your pics here!

Lots of awesome pigs here! One of mine is in the avatar at left--not particularly a "trophy," only about 20 pounds. But location is everything. This one happened to be located behind a sow that I hit with the R-25... A 150 gr CoreLok tore through her and a bit of shrapnel took out this one...

    My Last Caribou Hunt

Enjoyed that story, Ratdog-- I lived up there (Eagle River/USAF) for 15 years and never got in a river hunt. Did manage some Nelchina caribou hunts in the early '80s, and even got in on the substance permits before moving back to TX. Anyone who's never spent the night in a wet tent up there...

A look *into* the Pulsar N550

I agree, Wassman--I'm up to the N750 right now, but Hunt TXHogs showed me a new gen 3 scope that he was trying out and WOW! Really clear and 3.5 magnification (I think) to boot. Still, for me the digital units get the nod for early/late daytime use--
