308 rated NV or Thermal scope

I am new to this topic, but I have a new AR platform 308 rifle, that I am researching which optics to put on it for hog hunting. I am worried that the 308 recoil might be too much for some night vision/thermal optics. Can anyone recommend both a good night vision scope to put on it, and a good thermal scope to put on it that are rated to handle the force of a 308 caliber rifle please? Thanks in advance.

Some of the most proven large cal rated scopes are the old Armasight Zeus line. I also like the Pulsar Trails have two of them, but don’t shoot them on large cal myself plus I would upgrade the Pulsar mount to the DLOC if it was me.

Thank you for the suggestion. I found a ATN X-Sight II 3-14 scope in a store close to me for $459, but they only have the one. I am thinking about going with it for another gun.

Optics Planet .com has the ATN 3-14 for about that price. If you can find it on-line for less they will price match.

In my opinion your concern is legit for 308 AR recoil.

I’m not going to make any specific recommendations but I would suggest you consider a scope that uses a battery pack, or a self contained battery pack, or has replaceable batteries that are oriented perpendicular to the direction of the bolt if using an auto 308.

I asked Pulsar if their Trail model thermals can handle the recoil of a 12 gauge shotgun. They replied the Trail models can handle up to a .375 H&H Magnum recoil.

Well, that didn't answer my question, so I asked again. They answered yes it can handle 12 gauge shot gun recoil.

I still wondered because that's a blanket statement to me because the recoil from bird-shot is a lot different then a slug.

For real in the field shooting I can say I've fired several Hevi-Shot Dead Coyote shells through my shotgun with my Trail XP50 on top of it and so far so good.

I have a dpms gii lite hunter in 308 and use an armasight clip on attached to a swarovski z3 and have had 0 issues since ive had it. Ive been running it for about 3yrs now and have killed out to 212yds at night. I will be swapping that setup out for a pulsar xq50 though
