Research done; purchased thermal

Since joining the forum in May 2016, after experiencing first thermal hunt, I have enjoyed learning so much from everyone’s posts and videos.

After several more hunts and using UNV rental services, I finally ordered an Apex XQ38 today from UNV.

I appreciate the various dealer’s help in answering questions and other forum member’s opinions and guidance.

What a birthday gift! At age 62 I am eligible for social security and a thermal buyer! God Bless the USA

Well said. Both older brothers are serious cancer surgery survivors and they said 1) do not take good health for granted and 2) if I enjoy something then do it now while body allows.

I can’t wait to make more great moments with children tromping around at night chasing critters with night vision and thermal!

Evidently a neighborhood farmer killed a mountain lion that was released by DNR (never announced) so nighttime stalks are even more adventuresome DNR arrived at farm to collect the mountain lion within an hour after it was shot...and the farmer never called them so evidently heart and location of it was being monitored. Nephew also saw a mountain lion. With all the deer around, they have to be eating well!

62 !? A whipper-snapper !! I'm 63 IIRC and just started up shooting again 4 years ago since I left the Army a zillion years ago (79). We moved to rural setting 4 years ago and that was the enabler. Wife thought I was nuts but now realizes it is good exercise stomping up and down our hills and creeks in the middle of the night, moving the predators back from the chickens, etc.
Got first thermal 3 years ago, thought one would be enough, have six now ... way too many !!! :D

You are going to love it. I sure like mine. It was a lot of money but for the first time in my life I have the right equipment to do the job.
In 2017 our group killed 6 hogs. In 2018 our group killed 17 hogs and most of the credit goes toward the thermal scope. The thermo scope also made hog hunting more enjoyable where we controlled the situation instead of the hogs.

Thanks for the nice post. Congrats on your success with the scope.

I am still absolutely amazed with technology and its capabilities. It’s capacity exceeds my ability

Spent 1.5 hours at range getting accustomed to it and getting two different ammo zeroed in at 100 yards. With repetion, manual and Pulsar YouTube videos, mission accomplished.

Weather is supposed to be nice Wednesday so I will shoot the Wilson steel hog target at farm after morning’s business plant visit.

This tool and it’s capacity just amaze me. Going hog hunting in Oklahoma within 30 days so cannot wait to use it to kill hogs! No regrets purchasing it.

PS - UNV and Sellmark replaced the external battery I bought that did not keep a charge with no issue and excellent customer service.
