First Thermal, looking to buy this weekend.

New here but have been reading many of the post.

Looking to try and take advantage of the sales this weekend. I am trying to keep the cost to under $3.5K, less than $3K would be even better. I know this will probably bite me later wanting something better, just like rifles and day scopes.

Hunting location is fixed at 100 to 120 yard shots, normally nothing shorter or longer right now. Hunting from a fixed position over 2 feeders, never get but one shot because of limited field of view to the feeder.

Looking for something that can handle recoil from LMT 308, although may set it up on a bolt gun.

One that can be focused for better image clarity?

One with a less expensive battery pack option, 18650 battery packs? I have 18650 batteries, packs, and chargers.

These are the scopes I am currently looking at: Am I missing something better for the money?

I have read to stay away from ATN, is this a correct assumption?

Pulsar Trail XQ50 - 2.5-10X42 PL76503Q - $3375
Pulsar Trail XQ38 - 2-8X38 PL76501Q - $2930

Is it worth stepping up to this? Hate to do this but….

What type of hunting will u be primarily doing? Driving around scanning fields? Sitting in a blind overlooking a bait pile? Walking around scanning? Spot and stalk? Etc

Pulsar trail XQ38 would do everything u need. Pulsar trail XQ50 would be even better for your situation imo.
The benefit of the 38 is the wider field of view for scanning open areas and shooting at running sounders.
The benefit of the 50 is more zoom which makes a more precise first shot easier.
Both will easily identify/distinguish a hog from a deer at that distance.
Cliff would probably be able to meet with u somewhere and let u compare them side by side.
