I don't understand. Why would you produce a thermal that had no focus ?? How does this work ??
My ATN ThOR is very dependent on the focus. At <100yds,if the animal moves closer or farther,of only 15yds or so,you need to refocus. You can still target the hog but it will not be visably as clear. ---- pruhdlr
The Trijicons don't use a focus and work well, but the rest really need a focus. The reason they do not use a focus is very simple $$$$. A focasable lens is more expensive and puts the unit out of the $2k price range.

Understood . . .
One more question if I may. - - -> Leaning towards a Trijicon for my next thermal, now that the "treasurer" of the family has upped my budget. Are any of their model's offered WITHOUT all the "bells and whistles". Just great reso(640X480)and fairly uncomplecated. A 1X - 6X would be perfect. Something that I do not have to program over and over with my computer.
Thanks for the help guys. ---- pruhdlr

The mk2 models have less "bells and whistles" ... and probably have depreciated further than the mk3 models and hence, in used form would be lowest cost of entry ... like th 19mm Mk2 Hunter ... that one is 1.5x optical ...
All the TEO are 640 ... though all the ones I've had can bee run on either 30hz or 60hz user selectable.

I'd go after the mk2 19mm hunter ...

And BTW, it can be upgraded to the mk3 35mm or the mk3 60mm if you ever choose to do that.

the 19mm Hunter has the widest FOV of the all the TEO except the IR-Patrol 19mm ....

I heard a rumor that Flir started shipping the 233's this week. No idea how many or how quickly, though...

I'm pretty sure I'm in the first bunch, but I don't know if they sent every vendor their initial order. I understand that some vendors preordered as far back as SHOT this year.

How far can they be used to effectively scan for game animals? Flir pts233?

Sounds like another push back from what I am hearing, sometime in November . This is turning into a JOKE!! This Thermal should have never been brought to market and having vendors sell this unit all the while lying to the vendors. Why on earth send vendors invoice notices in the first place?? I wouldn't be surprised if Flir only ships a couple units to each vendor when they actually do ship them!!

Steve, while I don't disagree with you, this is a common marketing tactic.

Thank you Sir! I guess I'll be saving my pennies for the one after the PTS233... any other good scopes you recommend, that are out now, for around $3,000?

Pulsar Trails are a good scope, not their cheap one but the Trails, not sure the price point, Ask Night Vision Guys for their best price.

My Zeus 336 42 easily detects out to 1000+ yards (ID about 200) and was around $3k a year ago. Cant imagine the newer stuff would be any worse.

The **** people are saying they got some of the 19mm bosun weapon sights in ... and showing a pic on the hide ... of course it could still be weeks/months before any are actually in stock and available to order. But if other dealers are receiving a few units, that is at least evidence of crawling forward.

I hope he ^^^^^^^^means 12 micron as 19 would be a step back not forward
