I had no plans for the evening when one of my landowners finished haying for the day and let me know that he had found new rooting in his hay field. Hogs have apparently not been on the property that he has noticed or that I have seen hunting there in the last few weeks. As he had fresh sign, I thought I would head up and see what I could find. It is great when the landowner help me to help them.

Nice work! Another excellent video.
Hmm, maybe I should collect persimmon and loquat seeds this spring and plant them around the place I hunt. I just may do that!

Wild persimmons are about a number 87 on a 10 scale in the make you pucker departmant.
The bigger ones(store bought ones) are great.
Nice hog . . . great shot.
May I please ask what trigger do you have in that gun?? --- pruhdlr

I am afraid to say that I have become a fan of Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) Trigger 3.5 lb. I really like these and have them in 3 of my AR15s. I am sure that there are cheaper triggers that are still awfully good, but given my experience with these, I have don't experiment with trying to find a cheaper alternative.

I am using the same DVR sold by ******************* and a couple of other places. They are the same basic unit, but maybe different firmware. They don't have a brand name as far as I know. They are NOT an Angel Eye or Angel Eye knockoff (neither of which have sound).

I am using Windows Movie Maker which is no longer available from Microsoft. I am playing with Vegas Pro 14. I hate changing editing software. WMM does what I need, but when this computer is gone, so too is my editing ability with it so I will need to have a new program. You can poll the people here to find out what they are using. Each of the programs has advantages and disadvantages. They all do the same basic stuff, some do some really neat things, but the issue is how well you can learn to use it and how easy it is to use. I tried three different free download programs. None were intuitive and because they had so many options, were difficult to self teach. One was just overly complicated to do some of the things I use repeatedly in WMM. In short, I don't have a good suggestion for you, but I would suggest scanning YouTube for review and how-to videos. What doesn't work for me may seem easy peazy to you. The How-To vids can be very helpful.

Thanks for the reply. I used the mac iMovie on my GoPro but didn't care for it to terribly much because I was terribly slow with it.

Thanks again I hope I'll dig around.

I asked about the trigger because if how steady the retical was at the shot.
My initial hog killing setup had a SSA-E installed in it. With a very tiney dab of grease it ran extremely well.
All you guys that take the vids must have great triggers to make the longer shots that I see here.
Thanks for the reply . . . and good hunting. --- pruhdlr

Yep, you caught me. I definitely try to compensate mechanically for my trigger control shortcomings. A good trigger that breaks cleanly is a big help. I like a 2-stage trigger for this. I did NOT like 2-stage triggers when I first tried them, but now prefer them for this sort of shooting.

There are a lot of good triggers out there. I like mine, but from the reviews I have read, you can spend a lot less money and still get a good trigger.
