XP38 or XP50?

I'll be hunting yotes in open fields to say 300yds. Would the XP38 be sufficient or should I go up to the XP50? What's the decision factor (besides cost) that would put the XP50 over the XP38? Thanks!

For those longer distance shots I think the XP50 should be better suited. It's not that much of a price difference between the two. I talked to a vendor who said the 38 would be fine for hog hunting but recommend the 50 for more open range and long distance shots.

Haven't had first hand experience though.

Will you taking shots to 300 or just seeing 300? Big difference.

I've had a lot of field experience with both. Personally for most hog situations I think 38 for the field of view. For predators (smaller target, further distance, usually less targets), I'd go 50 or to a bigger scope.

Majority of shots under 300 (prob way under), but would like the capability to try.. Only get to hunt hogs once or twice a year, and that may come to a halt due to my father-in-law's health (may sell his hunting land near Vernon). So mostly yotes. I also have an XD38 for scanning, and NVGs for ID if necessary. So leaning to the XP50.. Holding out for the sound & shot-activated-recording as well as HOPEFULLY a price drop (I know that's dreaming). Have $5k set aside, but would like the DLOC mount and be able to buy a better tripod.
