Which Armasight

Hey everyone I am looking to purchase my first thermal. I have used the Zeus 336 and 640 a few times but not enough to give any details other than the 640 brings images closer. I have the opportunity to buy a Zeus pro 336 x50 mm 60hz for 4500 or a Zeus 3 640 x 75mm 60hz for 6000.
I have read and looked at videos for hours trying to decide. I just want to ask a direct question to the "pros" to get some advice.
Thanks

New one are coming, old models will have to be discounted, new models will be amazing. If I am dropping 6K I want the newest and will wait till they are released..If you have to you can get a Predator for 2-2.5K to tide you over, it can be your spotter or loaner later..of course there are under 2K thermals that will tide you over too.

Jboogy, I'd wait for the new ones to come out. I have a couple of the Zeus 640 3-24x75mm in 30hz. I bought them new for under 6k almost 2 years ago. The latest version of these scopes are in HD. Not sure how much better the HD versions are but they are supposed to be better for the same price.

I appreciate the reply. I am not one for jumping on the newest stuff out just for the sake of not wanting to be product tester. I would like to get something tried and true that has worked well for others for some time. I do understand where you are coming from though. The new pulsar line seems like it is going to be solid with the new technology so armasight will probably be better.

it will not be new and untested just better technology with added features and the best core and maybe for the same or less price.. Thermal is moving fast but will slow down now with advances and add ons improving what is out there. I don't want to be stuck with 3-4 year old technology if I could have better for less.

I would wait until Armasight comes out with their new boson cores, or I would go with a Pulsar XP50 for less than the used Zeus 640.

Newer most of the time is better but I understand your reservations. If you want older technology you should be able to find something for under 6k that will do what you want. But keep in mind the warranty with older units, it can be a lifesaver.

When you get ready make sure and check us out as well. We deal in a lot of Armasight and we take good care of the guys off this page.

There's several good options in your budget. I would pass on that 336 for sure. For that range, there's no reason not to be in a 640.

Also, depending on the distance you're hunting, the 75 might have too tight a field of view. I know I prefer a 50mm lens tops (35mm in a 12 micron unit).

Shoot me a pm if I can answer any questions or if you'd like to visit over the phone.

It all depends on your usage. What will be your average range shot? What type of environment are you hunting in? A 30hz refresh rate is more than enough for a hunt, you really do not need a 60hz unless you are planning to take a shot (s) at running game (20+ mph). Keep in mind that if you do go with a 60hz refresh rate it will not only drain your batteries quickly (battery pack recommended) but it will also refresh more times than often.

The new Boson cores in a 640 will not be available until 2018 and the 320 Boson core will be available within the next 30 days, give or take. That being said, I do not believe that Armasight/Flir will discontinue the current line of the 17 microns.

Please answer the questions above and I will help you find a unit that suits you best.

Thank you,
Felix

or a Zeus 3 640 x 75mm 60hz for 6000

Several people, me included, have sold Zeus 3x, 640(30), 75mm on this site for $5,000 and in my case, that was well over a year ago ... and 60hz sounds better than 30hz, but unless you are usually hunting from a chopper not sure that it is. Especially regarding battery consumption. I love the few units that let us select 30/60 :)

I would keep looking.
