Optics Planet would be my last choice after exhausting all options with the vendors on this site. Not that they don't have decent prices, but with our vendors, you will get the same good prices AND personal service. When you put out that much money for a toy, it's good to know there is someone whom you have grown to know by name only a phone call away when you have a problem.

There is no way in hell I would spend thousands of dollars with Optics planet. Buy from a site sponsor. These guys post here daily. You can call and talk to them. You can go look at scopes they have.

Maybe somebody can correct me on this...... And I'm by no means bashing or even putting down local vendor's or sponsor's of this site, I'm sure they are great people.

I purchased my first thermal through optics planet, was a great experience, you can haggle with them. I think they knocked 3-400 of the thermal by just asking. I did have an issue with my Armasight a year later, and I just went directly to Armsight with my questions and repairs needed.

Are the dealers or sponsor's mentioned doing work on thermals? Or would you still have to go direct to the manufacture? If they aren't, is the only advantage being able to talk to them? And in that case, wouldn't you still want to talk with the Armasight, or whoever, Techs that would actually be repairing the thermal?

A warranty from the manufacture is just as good through Optics planet as it is through any other authorized vendor isn't it????

I've had vendors run interference for me with IRD and Armasight, saving me a lot of time. It's your money so spend it however you want. This is pretty well the best thermal forum on the web and I learned a lot here early on. I'd rather spend money with the guys that sponsor the site.

Completely understand that. And I agree, I found this website when first getting into the thermal world and it by far had the most knowledge on it.

I can add that two vendor from this site actually spoke with me this afternoon about my needs, and even changed my mind about what I wanted to purchase. That's the great thing about the sponsors on forum sites. They have a vest interest in getting a happy satisfied customer. Why, because word of mouth like this and the service and expertise they provide. It's the difference between buying your stuff from Walmart or going to a specialty shop where the guy behind the counter explains the pros and cons and helps you decide what's best to get. Optics planet won't talk you out of an item or say don't buy that, it won't suit your needs. You need this instead to accomplish what you want. I was very happy with my talks and will buy from a LSB vendor because of the service they provide.
Plus they more people they make happy they will earn repeat business and if I have a good experience with a vendor. I recommend they to my friends. I have a crappy experience guess who hears about it. My friends.

I just bought a Reap-IR from ******** of *******************. He not only gave me then nest price heads down but I have continued to communicate with him for advice. The quality customer service is not found at Optics Planet. I have his personal cell number for goodness sakes. Go to ********. End of discussion

OK Here is the deal, your local vendor may fight for you especially if they are a high volume dealer and have some pull, others not so much. The only time I had to fight the manufacturer UNV stood tall and rep'd me as if it was they themselves...in the end I am sure it cost them $ but I got a full refund and they don't do much business with that manufacturer at this time. Also NVG got answers for me I could not find elsewhere.... Unless you call and talk to the companies you really have no idea what they know and how they will act, I prefer calling and talking to all the vendors before making a buying decision as large as a thermal unit...just my .02

OH and DJ no one hates you here, I find you entertaining, well most of the time

Night vision guys gave me a better price than optics planet on my reap. When the first one had a defective lense, they overnighted me a replacement, I never had to deal with Trijicon. There are benefits to buying from an outfit such as these guys. I am sure Trijicon would have made it right, but I would have missed a few hunts.
