Coffee grounds?

Anyone ever tried coffee grounds at a bait site? Local coffee shop gives it away, I figured with enough of it the smell would carry a good ways.

Hogs are apt to eat just about anything organic. I say "just about" because for three years running, I tried free leftover pumpkins and nothing touched them. They rotted in place.

You could try the grounds, but I would try it away from places where you have feeders and the like. Find a nice clearing and dump out a bunch of coffee grounds and set up a game camera and see what happens. If the come to it and eat it, then you may be onto something. If you try the grounds where the hogs are already known to be coming, then you don't know if it was the grounds that attracted them or the fact that they showed up as they might normally do and just happened to find the grounds.

We had the same luck with pumpkins. They'd roll them down the hill to get them out of the way for easier corn access....

No clue about coffee. I took some pumpkins this past year and chopped them up with a shovel and mixed the chunks with corn and added jello/koolaid powder. I had a boar on the pile a couple hours later and there was plain corn a couple hundred yards down. Also had coons eating it. I know that sitting in a bucket with a kid, it turned to mush that smelled strong from very far away after a couple weeks. Can't say whether or not the pumpkin was effective but I can say it added to the volume of hog bait that seemed to work.

If nothing else, it might give them a caffeine high and make them run around more.
