Vortex Spitfire

Anyone here have experience with the Vortex Spitfire? I'd never seen one before and picked one up at Cabela's. They had them on sale for $300 and I had a $30 off coupon, a $100 gift card from work and enough Cabela's bucks on their Visa card that my out the door price was $0!
It has two concentric rings around a dot and you can switch between red or green. But the thing that really drew me to it was it's a etched glass reticle so if your battery dies, you're still in business. Anyway, I mounted it on my 458 SOCOMM so we shall see if it holds up. It's got a lifetime warranty and I have zero dollars invested so I probably can't go wrong. I'll switch it to a 223 if I have to use the warranty. It will be awhile before I can get to the range to try it out as my wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and tomorrow she goes in for surgery. As soon as that heals up then it's chemo, then radiation, then reconstruction.

I wasn't too thrilled with the glass clarity on that particular optic, and passed. But, the deal you got... I'd give it a shot too.

Sorry to hear of the battle you and your family is facing. Prayers headed your way for a full recovery. My best friend was diagnosed with colon cancer a couple of months ago, he's into his third round of chemo. Been encouraged to see that he's a fighter (as is his wonderful wife). It's definitely a roller coaster for the emotions.

Prayers for your wife and family. Hope all will go well. On the Spitfire i have a couple of them and like them. The only trouble I've had is that on one of them the screws that attach the mount to the scope came loose. Some locktite and i was good to go. The one on my 450 Bushmaster has given no trouble.

Thank you for the payers and the word on the Spitfire. I thought about putting some loctite on those when I mounted it. I'll go back and do it. Glad to here it will hold up to the big bores!

Thanks for the prayers guys, we really appreciate them. Surgery went well. Something for the "You gotta be kidding me!" file. Anesthesiologist comes in to give her the good stuff just as they are about to take her in to the operating room and tells use that they don't have the expanders the reconstructive surgeon had ordered but that they would figure something out and that could be taken care of later (as in another surgery), 30 seconds later she's off to surgery. Two surgeons were doing the mastectomies and then the reconstructive surgeon puts in the expanders and tidys things up when they are done. The reconstructive doc comes out about an hour and a half after the other surgeons had started and tells us when he found out about the screw up he called the rep for the company who makes the expanders. The rep drove down to the warehouse in Richardson, got the expanders, and brought them to the hospital in Plano. Proof to me prayers are answered and there are some really good people in this world that will go out of their way for a stranger.

I just saw this and I am glad the surgery went well and that the rep was someone who would do the right thing.

You and your wife are in our prayers as well and praying and hoping for a full recovery.
