This morning I was awakened about 4:30 by mother nature's alarm clock and after taking care of business I thought I'd check the pasture for critters. I scanned the pasture with my PVS14, especially the bait tree where Rgilbert had generously staked out a hog for me the previous day. I saw this young lady sitting a few yards from the hog, apparently trying to decide if it was really dead before going over to take a bite out of it. (Smart move). I ran inside and grabbed my trusty AR, you know, the one Hillary and Co. says no one hunts with. I sat down at my previously established shooting position on the back porch and turned on my IR light to give me a better view. Unfortunately there was a light fog and the light just reflected back and blinded me. About then she started to walk back to the brush line so I sounded off with my best wounded rabbit squeal. She stopped for a moment (not a smart move) either to try to locate the rabbit or more likely to laugh at my rabbit impersonation. I couldn't see her very well as I had the fog to deal with but I took a shot anyway and got her just behind the right shoulder, at about 180 yards. I know that's a lot of words to say "hey guys I got a coyote last night" but I like writing about my backyard night time adventures out here in the country, something I couldn't do in Houston.
