What do you coyote hunt with?

Just received a 20" 223 barrel from *** and putting it together tonight to break it in tomorrow and hopefully bust a coyote with it Friday.
Ive got a couple 22-250s, 243s, and 6.8s. But just wanted to do another AR with a longer barrel in 223 and dedicate it for my Day time Coyote rifle. I love my bolt actions, but i always want to hunt with a Semi since there are hogs in the area.

Ive got some 53gr Vmax loaded with a stiff charge of Benchmark along with some 50gr Nolser BT's loaded with CFE223. Which ever shoots the best gets the go at the yotes.

Since I am out already I just use the 6.8, never think to take the 556 out

For after dark i use the Thermal. But during the day and evening the thermal screen doesnt get bright enough to get a good sight picture. So i usually carry a regular day scoped rifle with me and swap out rifles right at dark.

Until recently I usually used my 16" 6.8 with IRD MK II thermal and an Omega suppressor, but I switched up to an 11.5" 6.8 with an YHM ULT.

I mounted a Pulsar HD 50 on my 10.5" 5.56 and with the Omega that makes a really nice compact, lightweight rig that will get some use.

I prefer the 223 when I'm targeting yotes. I will shoot them with whatever I have in my hand when I see them. No matter what I'm hunting if I see a coyote I'm now coyote hunting. I've killed them with shotguns while bird hunting in South Texas.

One reason I use the 6.8 is because it has the better thermal on it, but I have had trouble finding a load that works well on coyotes, fox, raccoon and other small pests. My 110gr Barnes hog load just doesn't work well on smaller critters and my 16" hates the 120gr Hornaday SST's. I tried the Barnes 85gr RRLP's and they are working well. Now that I've switched the better thermal to the 11.%" I can shoot SST's.

If I ever spring for a REAP-IR, it will go on the 5.56 SBR and that set up, 10.5", Omega, REAP-IR will no doubt become my favorite rifle.

I use Fiocchi's 50gr V-Max 223R loads, and they are extremely accurate in several of my rifles, including a CZ 527 Varmint I got for my son for daylight predator hunting which with the Fiocchi ammo has proven to be a one hole gun.

From a 300WbyMag to a 22-250, depends on what I have in my hand when I see the yotes.

Try the S&B 110 Gr PTS, works like the SST but might work well in your gun. $13.99 a bx at PSA

I hunt with an 6.8 *** 12.5 with armasight Zeus 630 3x. The current load is 90tnt at ~2600 fps. But going to try 110 pro hunters at ~2450 fps. Both hand loads.

I hardly use my 5.56 any more.
