Coloradoan, in Texas in May

Hi! My boys and I are new to hog hunting and we'll be in the Canyon Lake area from May 18-June 6 this year (2021). We're looking for opportunities to hunt hogs in the hill country area, within a reasonable drive from Canyon Lake. If anybody knows of private land connections or farmers that need help with the pests, that's what we're looking for. We're more interested in going this route than a guided service at this point. I wish you luck in your search for private land connections or farmers. After living outside San Antonio for almost 3 years and looking for the same thing, I think finding what you want will be extremely difficult if not impossible. You will need a personal connection to get on new land. Too many people want the same thing, and with the liability that goes along with letting people hunt, finding a place to hunt for free is extremely difficult.

The cheapest place I found to hunt was about 75 minutes SW of San Antonio, which would be closer to 2 hours from Canyon Lake. $100 for 24 hours with unlimited hogs but I only saw one hog each trip. Lots of places will charge you per hog. I found quite a few places that wanted $200+ per hog.

Not trying to be a downer, but I would suggest starting a search for a guide rather than holding out hope for someone to offer up their property for a hunt.
