My oldest enjoys hunting and hunts with me each year. My youngest took her first deer when she was 8 and hasn’t hunted or taken a deer since. I ask her each year and she declines the offer. I don’t pressure her I just ask. I really wanted her to try hunting one more time to determine if she likes it or not so I changed my strategy. I asked her if she would like to make some money. She asked how and I told her I would pay her to take a deer over the holidays. She jumped at the offer.

We talked all week about the hunt. When she arrived in camp we went right to the blind. It didn’t take long. She did it and I think she enjoyed it. Mom and the dogs came down for the recovery(not much of one, she dropped her). My daughter stayed outside all evening while I cleaned and quartered the deer (she never does that). She then played games with her mom.

I think a couple things helped make this a positive experience. First she asked to hunt from a nicer blind and I encouraged her to use my suppressed 300 HAM’R. I believe both these things helped make it a pleasant experience.

Best money I ever spent!

Sometimes, "how come?" is a great question. Congrats on the achievement... for you, and for her. Now, get her busy making chili.

That wasn’t expensive at all, that experience (for you) was priceless. Congratulations to your daughter for a very successful hunt and to you for the memories.

Well, MAYbe expensive in that he now has to invest in a NEW (nice) hunting blind for himself, since the kiddo has taken possession of the other one. LOL

Still cheaper in the long run. He will always know where to find his daughter.

100% agreement on that... but with TWO daughters, that'll end up being two more "nice" blinds. And then the wife will want her "Gucci" blind. LOL

This daughter’s favorite is smoked sausage so this deer will go towards that. It is fun having them involved in harvesting their own food.

The “chili”daughter took this doe yesterday evening. I really like my 6.8 but we have been using the 300 HAM’R with great results. All three deer this year have dropped in their tracks.

Two daughters who prefer differing ways to eat it... this is GOOD, brings variety to dad's taste buds. Congrats to both, you AND "chili" on the doe.
