Not much activity lately

Finally saw a pair of young boars come into my feeder about 7:30 last night. There has been very little activity in my area this month. They were covered in mud and thus really hard to identify clearly with the thermal. Call it hog camo, their appearance was so mottled up. Must be the new Muddy Mossy Oak pattern.

Good hog down! Been a hot September and I think acorns are dropping in some areas.

A little concentration sure paid off right there. Nice kill.

Live oak acorns are dropping here in Brazos County, but I got a 225# boar last Tuesday night. He was wearing the same camo as yours.

I think that’s called “Muddy Soak” camo. Good Job!

Not much going on in my woods either. Glad you did some good! Good shooting!

Been seeing lots of hogs feeding in pastures along county roads just before sunrise. I have a couple hundred acres in Madison county that they have not rooted up like they usually do. Wet spring and plenty of bahia grass to graze on is my guess. Not complaining, its expensive repairing my hay pasture every year. I have a big pine tree about 150 yards behind the house that is covered in mud from their rubbing. I've never used any type of "pig oil" to attract them. Can some of you who have recommend a good brand? Should be able to drop one from my back porch if I can get them to visit regularly. Bless you brothers.

Just save some "burnt lube" from your next oil change. Pour it around your special tree. Works pretty good and is cheap.

+3 on the acorn "A-kern" drop. Here in SE Oklahoma the oaks made a ton after the extremely wet start to the year. Combine that with a bit of a drought for a short while and they started dropping.

Going to be hell come mid-December when they run out of food though...
