Back at the wheat field with the Thunder Chicken and 16" rifle. Spotted the sounder way back in the field and
had to drive to a pad sight to get close enough. I took my time identifying the lead sow and shot her at 150 yards out. She ran towards me and I took her down with a running shot at 50 yards. The lead was right on and the bullet entered the left ear blowing the right eye out of its socket. The remaining sounder had no clue where I was and no leader to tell them what to do next. They were still 150 yards out as I aimed and then hit one of the juveniles. This time they scattered away but I had to focus my attention on the wounded juvy. It took four additional hits to finally stop that tough little critter. She had been hit in the neck, shoulder, and three times in the abdomen. Just would not go down. It was around 11:30 pm on a very still hot August night. All caught on video this time. Warning - may be disturbing to sensitive viewers!
