Unlike some folks on here (cough, Brian) who are averaging close to a hog a day, I'm doing well to get one a month! Even at that rate I'm a little behind. This was my first hog of 2019. There's a lot of rooting activity where I hunt, more so than usual, but the hogs have been elusive. This 230 pound boar was munching on black walnuts, AKA pig nuts, and never knew what hit him.

Rifle is a 300 Blackout shooting Hornady 110 grain VMAX bullets. I'm using them until they're gone at which time I'll switch to their .308 110 grain SP bullets. They seem to work about as well for less cost.

Looks like you interrupted his supper! Hate it when that happens. Nice hog down. Good shooting

No back straps to go with the hams? Nice kill! No mercy, no hesitation to kill 'em.

Do it again !!!

Actually, I took the shoulders as well as the hindquarters. Had to make two trips. I dropped the back straps into the bags with the shoulders.
Smoked the shoulders today, mmm good …

A man after my own heart. I generally take an animal for the meat. The exceptions have been very rare.

Unbelievable.

I don't stand that still when I'm taking a leak.
