Off two a bad start

Met up with a coworker in Livingston to kill some hogs last night. Got to the property around 10pm. Saw a lone boar in a pasture and he winded us pretty quick and bolted outta there. Shortly after that my buddy got his 4 wheeler stuck in the mud. I stepped off the 4 wheeler and sank in the mud almost up to my knees and my suppressor wound up about 4 inches into the mud as well unfortunately. After clearing out the suppressor and driving back to the house to get a chain, we got back and the chain wasn’t long enough to reach the 4 wheeler without risking getting the truck stuck. Went back to the front of the property and attached the trailer to the truck and backed it up to the chain and pulled the 4 wheeler out. Now the storm is about 30 minutes away. 15 minutes later on the 4 wheeler I spied two hogs near a tree line. 400 yds away. We made our stalk with a good wind direction but the hogs were steadily moving away from us. We finally caught them and made our shots from about 125 yds killing both of them. One dropped one ran, but a few follow up shots anchored her. Finished her off with a suppressed 230 grain .45 acp hollow point to the dome. Made it back to the truck just as it started raining.

Hope the boots didn't fill up with cold slime. Ack !! Discretion is generally the better part of valor, good move getting the trailer. And, freezer-fodder for the efforts is never a bad thing either. Nice work there young man.

Thanks fellas. I forgot to mention that my buddies truck started makin a funny sound wen we first got on the property and then the check engine light came on. Apparently his truck was towed a day or two ago for being parked illegally in the city and that had to do with it.

Wow! That’s the kind of night that tries your patience. Glad you “stuck” with it! I’ve got a couple of places like that and I just stay away until it dries up. Good hogs down though!

Nice hog especially after all that. I have some areas that I can't hunt right now due to mud. I learned the hard way unfortunately.
