My MOLLE Gear Belt: Medical Kit

I routinely carry medical swag to patch up myself or a buddy if needed.

It’s also essential to save any wounded hogs that I recover but unable to dispatch. (This has not yet occurred).

Because of my background and access, my kit has different toys than most. The components fall into three general categories:

Biological: Biochemical body hacks

Hydrocortisone stick
Handy after planting a tripod leg into a fire ant mound. (But what are the odds of that happening…again?)

Epipen
(I’ve have had three wasp stings with no problem; this comes out when I get twenty).

Ibuprofen / Excedrin
(When I just did something that I know I’m gonna feel in the morning).

Bacterial: Early infection prevention

Saline syringe (Eye or wound flushing)

Betadyne / povidone swabs (Lotta ways to kill cooties, but I’m a fan of monkey blood)

Antibiotic ointment
Tubes tend to leak, so I carry a few small tear packs.

Bleeding: Options to keep the red stuff inside.

Bandages / wraps
Tourniquet
Clotting powder
Clotting gauze
Dermabond (A little tricky to use, but can save a trip to the ER if done quickly and correctly).

Because my primary hunting property is covered with prickly pear cactus, a powerful and frequently used tool is (are?) tweezers (with builtin light and magnifier).

Removal often requires mechanical assistance:

I like your selection of gear. It seems very practical and useful.

My LEO days were in the Alaska Bush. I carried tampons for potential unwanted holes. Best they could do there, stabilize as best as possible and call for a Lear Jet (4hrs. away in Anchorage).

Sound like an excellent kit. Hope you don’t need it, but good to be prepared.

Good kit. I only worry about major injuries so I carry tourniquet, quick clot, chest seal and a few Israeli bandages.
