6.8 Pistol?

I've been looking for a 6.8 pistol with an 8ish inch barrel. Who makes one that's well under $2k? I know Bison makes one less expensive with a 1-7 twist which leads me to my second question. What's the best twist rate for that short of a barrel?

My 6.8 Pistol is also a Bison, but, the original 1:11 twist. The twist rate is more for bullet weight, not so much for barrel length. Heavier bullets like a faster twist. Gong-ringing at 200 yds. is no problem with mine. I haven't shed any blood with mine yet.

Wish I could find a 1-11 that wasn't expensive as heck. I run the *** 16" now with the 1-11.25 and really like the performance. Shooting the lighter 90 grain gold dot but think I need a faster twist that the 1-7 Bison offers now.

You do know... A R P just got in some 10.5" barrels in 6.8.

I have the A R P 12.5" and bang the 200 yard gong all day shooting 120 SST factory loads. I had a 16" but have a can coming in a few months and accuracy has been just as good.

I got rid of my Bison 8.5", loses too much. I could have gone 10.5 or 12.5 6.8 but for now went 10.5 7.62x39 and love it.

Frank, was the Bison 8.5" accurate and what ammo did you try? Not looking to hunt with it just a bedside and truck pistol. Would like to keep it as short as possible and 6.8 since I have so much ammo in that cal.

It was accurate, I killed hogs at 75yds and it would be great for what you are talking about. Run non copper like the Hornady 120SST for short range, the barrel was susceptible to copper build up. Also use an adjustable gas block for tuning the gas.

Euro Optic has the 9.25 inch 6.8 gas piston uppers right now for only $899. Seems like a sweet deal!
