Advice for traveling through Florida

Lots of people here from Florida so I have a question. We spend the winter near Crystal River Florida on hwy 19. In the past we have always made our way to Panama City then take highway 98 along the gulf coast to hwy 19 in Perry Fl. We leave for Florida in 2 weeks. Is it advisable to avoid these areas hit my the hurricane or are the roads passable. We can avoid highway 98 and take I-10 and pickup hwy 19 East of Tallahassee. We sometimes spend the night at the Walmart in Marianna Florida. Is Marianna up and running or a place to avoid? Appreciate any tips on driving through the hurricane damaged areas. Already planning to gas up in Dothan Al. That tank of gas should get us to Crystal River. Thanks

yeah avoid 98, even tally was damaged and I10 for 80 miles shut down but you will be ok now. Panama City to Apalachicola are a mess other than that you should be OK

We were encouraged to stop at the Florida visitors center at the Florida/Alabama state line on hwy 331. they advised us to avoid Mexico Beach but said we could drive through Port St Joe. We took hwy 71 out of Mariana and headed toward Pt St Joe. About half way the hurricane damage was the worst but driving closer to Pt St Joe the wind damage lessened. But hwy 98 on the gulf coast and wind and water damage. 98 had been washed out but repaired so we could get through. Most amazing was the rock riprap along 98 and the gulf coast had been washed across 98 to the other side of the road. Some rocks were large, to much for me to pickup. We must have seen over 100 miles of hurricane damage. Cleanup crews are hard at work. It appeared to me most of the power had been restored along the way with new power poles and new wires. Hard to say away from the main highways. Recovery will be a long process but I'm sure the Floridians can do it.

yeah Mexico Beach and 1/2 of Panama City were either gone or partially to include all of Tyndall AFB. 2 Billion lost just in Timber and the local plant they use
