Hog & Coyote

Livin' the Dream …

I got a little variety this time, putting down one each boar and coyote. The hog went down the first night, and the next evening a coyote found what remained of the carcass. The thermal conditions changed dramatically from day one to day two due to rain. The second night's video is considerably poorer than the first night.

My buddy also shot a calico boar the first night out using my AR-10 with a Photon NV Scope but I accidentally erased that video. As Rick Perry might say, "Oops!"
But, I did get a photo which I posted in "Hunting Stories".

That ol' boy was TRYING to get his wheels working... but, you done gave him a blow-out. Nice shot. And, that prairie-poodle... his ticket was punched before he knew what was headin' his way. Nice work.

Solid video and commentary.

I believe videos like this in bad weather are especially important for couple of reasons…

They show performance in real field conditions – not “dream world” as depicted in many thermal hunting videos (particularly on product websites ).

Conversely, they are a good reminder that the technology has progressed to the point where you can get out in really bad weather and, with diligence and good tactics, still bag a hog / dog combo.
