That’s a fact! Whoever does the field testing must not be testing it in my type of environment.
Someone we all may know or not know may have used to test these things. Then this someone was told not to kill things and put them on video anymore. Maybe the CEO of the new buying company was anti hunting so the field testers did exactly opposite of what the liberal CEO said and is no longer working for them.

I had to send my PTS233 off for repair recently. It was delivered yesterday. Well delivery was attempted yesterday. I called in to ask about a firmware update for the unit.

Was told there is a firmware update but they took it off the website for "compliance" whatever that means.

Additionally, I was told the firmware update would be made available via a link to download via email.

I didn't ask how to get a link to firmware update but assume it would be made for individual requests to customer service?

Maybe someone here knows more about this than I now do?

Anyway, assuming they cleaned the sensor and put everything back together correctly, not a bad turnaround time for service.

June 14, email request made for service. July 2, unit returned. I’m going to be honest, my IRD scope that I love has been in the shop three separate times. I’ve never once gotten it returned to me in less than four weeks. It generally took six weeks.

Final update:

I just picked up my unit from the fed ex customer center and tested it out in the parking lot. They definitely cleaned the sensor and the image itself looks better than it ever did.

Also the user defined setting issue that I had outlined in an email to them appears to have been addressed. I set the contrast to 175 and then turn the unit off, turn the unit back on and went to check and the contrast value was remained in place and the image appeared to have been the same image where I just left it.

I have not gone through every twist and turn that I outlined to them in an email regarding the user settings issues but I suspect it’s been corrected with the firmware update.

Just to reiterate, there is a firmware update but it is not something you can download from their website. You will have to contact fleer to have them send you a link via email.

I've been trying to contact them about the update for two days now. I have been referred to different departments and different numbers twice and all I have been able to do is leave a message on some yahoo's voice mail that still hasn't called me back.

In fairness, I have had the exact experience with flir that you have described. Non response to emails, nobody ever calls you back etc. etc.

Just not this most recent time

When I last dealt with Armasight/FLIR customer service everything went smooth. IIRC someone named Denise handled everything.

OK, one more minor update.

I received a firmware update files via a drop box type of cloud computer account and successfully updated my PTS233.

This was not done while the unit was in the shop for repair, but after completing the update my unit now correctly handles changes to the user defined settings both numerically and their actual function upon restart.

I have not figured out if there are any other goodies in the firmware update but I’m very happy that the user settings network correctly and will remember them correctly.

I still can't get any response from them WF, do you have the email address you used to contact them?

Yes, I just sent a private message with his email address. Also there is a similar update for the breach I was sent last night and updated it also.

Standby actually works correctly on my PTS 233 now after update. With the scope powered on if you switch it to standby in one quick motion the screen will go blank, and will restore instantly when you switch it back to on.
