For those of us that primarily hunt over a feeder from a blind - I had read about some folks using a driveway alarm to alert the shooter of movement in the feeder pen, and thought this could allow me to nap or read while waiting for the inconsiderate sounders or individual hogs to come and play. I found an alarm from an old gas station and stretched it out across the pen. After watching several groups come in with no alarm, I think there is a problem. My hogs seem to be avoiding stepping on the small black hose to set of the ding - ding announcement. How do you train them to step on it? Lol.
Actually I purchased a unit off amazon that will handle a bunch of sensors and transmit a long ways. Installed it, picked the sound from some 32 possibilities, set the distance the sensor will work on, the delay between sensings, etc., and turned it loose. Works well! It went off yesterday morning while my son & I were hunting and a first glance it looked like a false alarm until the young bobcat moved again. Woke us up to a bunch of hogs. Alarm sound has 32 choices, volume is adjustable, or has a light that flashes if volume is turned off.
Guardline 1/4 Mile Long Range Wireless Driveway Alarm- Top Rated Outdoor Weatherproof Motion Sensor & Detector is what I am using.
