Armasight's new Q14B

Hard_ware

Here piggy piggy! Deep Deep S. TX.
The light on the eyepiece travels out in a straight line vs expanding basic explanation.
Screen stays in focus from a longer distance behind eyepiece.
True collimation is like the lens is not there, like a hollow tube.
Tilting it has no effect on the image you are viewing the light goes thru it straight regardless of the angle.
So putting it in front of a day optic will not effect the day optics zero.
In reality certain magnifications are targeted for use with the collimated device and setting it up to mitigate any offsets is sometimes needed.

So, I get a phone call tonight from this guy who traded messages with me. He asked me to remove his name, email and phone number from this post.

Okay, done.

Reading on another forum it looks like the q14b has no reticle. It's a monocular with helmet mount. Meh.

Of course just like the original it was not designed to be a weapons sight.

I had the old Q14 it's a very cool pocket monocular, but not the best choice for scanning open areas while out hunting. Also not a great weapon sight but it works in a pinch

I would buy a new Q14B at around 2k for a pocket unit to have with me in my pack and such when weight and size maybe a issue. I would think it would be great for law enforcement officers gear bag

The one I used was 320 and it put my old 640 q14 to shame.

Not that I care but Flir had led people to believe it was a weapon sight.
Prototypes are always hyped. Who knows when it's out in a year or two maybe it will be.

Still waiting for news on the new boson 320 core units. Last updates I heard were maybe late Aug release on the Q14B and Flir Pro weapon sight models.

I was holding out for a Q14B, but I may just add a Pulsar Helion XP28 mono instead to my collection.

I figure with the 640 core it should put perform the Q14B 320 anyway. Software maybe great on 320 boson but pixels are pixels and the 640 ULIS core has a lot more of them.

The same here. I just bought the Pulsar Trail XP50 and now I need a thermal monocular. I am waiting for the new Q14 hoping they release an exportable version, but if it takes too long I will buy a Helion.

I also bought a Trail XP38 and really like it after many nights out using it in various weather conditions. I already have a IR Patrol for my main thermal monocular this next one is more of a back up and I will sale off my current back-up OTS-X 320.

I'm really curious to see some first user field reports when the first boson units start showing up. The very limited video I've seen so far was taken in town and to be honest my OTS-X 320 also looks great almost 640ish in town. Out in the country it does a good job also but for whatever reason it doesn't have the sharpness it shows in town image wise. Same could be said performance for my old Armasight Q14 320 system.

There's a lot of hype floating around on the new boson cores I guess time will tell the whole truth. I'm trying to stay grounded and expect a very nice 320 performing system (maybe the best 320 out there) if I do place a order for one. Expecting it to match a current production 640 core is asking a lot and probably unrealistic. I do expected a lot of value and performance for the price.

That said compare the BAE 12 micron 640 core to others in the market and they have ruled the commercial market based on image clarity alone the last couple years. No one else has entered main stream hunting/commercial market with below a 17 micron in a 320 class core. DRS was said to be teaming with IRD for a 10 micron 320 core but that hasn't ever happened.

I hear the Q14b has been canceled, it may come out as another name who knows.
