My first deer of 2017

Well, this is my first thread, so I´ll try to do it well:

Two weeks ago I hunted what could be the best deer I have. I was with a cousin of mine big hunting in Spain (for those who doesn´t know where I´m from). We had an assigned place where we could see hundreds of meters, very nice place but I realised that the closest shot I could try would be at 200 meters (220 yards)(I´ll try to upload a picture). We arrived at around 8am, everything was frozen (only -2ºC), but we were prepared for it. During the hunt we could see many doe (around 40. We were allowed to shoot them but I never do it if I´m not going to be able to keep the meat), and 2 deer but not too good, very young and quite far away, so I didn´t even think about it. We were about to leave after 4 hours (I had unloaded my rifle actually), when my cousin saw with his binoculars 3 big deer coming in. I had to load my rifle again and stay without moving for 10 minutes. Then the deer starting moving left and I was about to miss my chance. I checked the distance: 280 meters (306 yards), so put my rifle on a "Y-shaped" tree branch and thought: "ok, I´m aiming for the neck. If I miss the deer goes away uninjured, I hit it, it goes down on the spot". Put the ballistic torret of my scope at that distance, zoomed in, aimed for the top part of the neck, and bang!

I didn´t know if I had missed at first because of the trees and bushes, so I went to check and there it was. The problem was that if was very heavy and we couldn´t move it up the hill, so we had to cut it into pieces to take them to the car little by little (6 times I had to go, I almost died! but that´s part of the hunting too).

Its body was like a horse´s, and the problem was the steep ground...very very steep actually, and I´m not that young any more, you know...lol

Great deer, congrats and lots of meat!!

Yes, I´ll make "chorizos" with the meat. I´ll show them to you when they´re done ;)
