How many 300+ lb boars have succumbed to 6.8 SPC ?

Calling all you Sus Venators - Can you provide a shot breakdown for any 300+ lb boars that you took with the 6.8 SPC.

Ammo weight / Range / shot location / distance traveled after the hit / etc...

I would think 120 grains is pressing the edge of a bullet for this size animal and I would be shocked to hear if a 90 gr Gold Dot did the trick anywhere other than in the ear hole....

2 here;
1st one was running when I realized how big he was, took 5 or 6 hits to anchor him from 50 to 75 yds.
2nd one took one to the neck @ 60 yds. He rolled down the hill but never ran.
Both 120sst Factory loads

The one in my avatar is 298 lbs. I was using a 16" *** using a handloaded 120 SST loaded just about as hot as factory. The shot was from a standing position broadside about 70 yards away. He too the pill in the sweet spot and dropped like a sack of potatoes. I wouldn't want shot any pig with a 90 GD, it will probably get the job done but there will be more tracking.

Here is another angle.

image.jpeg Bar hog, measured 56" IIRC so well over 300 lbs. A single 120gr SST behind the ear from about 40 yds, DRT. I wish they were all that easy, lol.

Early on I used the 90gr GD several times with varying results. Switched to SST's and never looked back.

Yet another picture of the big one!! This guy measured fifty on the nose and was a very stout hog and looked very nice from nose to tail. He was very solid. I hope Duffy finds the first group because I would really like to know how big those really were!!??:) BANG BANG!!Hog Hunt13.jpg Hog Hunt7.jpg

Looks like an old thread, I know there has been a very large pile of very large hogs killed now with the 6.8 as it grows in popularity. I have killed 2 in that class but both with 223.
