EOTech Dot is distorted

Anyone have a solution for a distorted dot on my EoTech? I wear glasses and when shooting at most times my dot looks to be anywhere from an elongated slash to two independent dots. I can hit with it but precision shooting is a challenge. I bought the EOtech to use with my PVS14. Is there another option that will not do this? I am assuming it is my astigmatism causing it.

Have you had someone else check it?

Yes. It is fine. 18 year old son with good vision sees just fine with it.Just either my bifocals or astigmatism according to eotech.

well darn. That is why with my tired old eyes I don't use red dots often. I can hit w them I just don't feel precise.

I have the same problem with most red dots. I can only use them if I wear my contacts and that only gets me up to 50/50

Yes its your astigmatism I have another friend that has the same problem. His sounds worse than yours he says he just aims between the dots, that must be very frustrating.

Tell your ophthalmologist that the correction for your astigmatism needs to be changed

Thanks guys. That is about what I figured. It is not too bad. I shot a 3/4 MOA group at 100 yards yesterday, just do not feel like I am aiming as good as I can due to the dot flare. I know that is more than MOP requires. Was just working up a load for my new barrel.

I know my astigmatism causes problems with all scopes but red dots are the worst. The only thing I have a red dot anymore is my crossbow. Might have a lot to do with my sighting in problems. When I take all my guns to the range I may have to get someone else to dial them in for me

If his situation is the same as my friends it will be there with any red dot type scope.
true enough, my situation is that the eotech is not an option, but the little aimpoint dot is 'good enough'

I have the same problem. I just turn the brightness as low as I can to avoid the fuzziness. Crosshairs are a problem too if I'm looking through a scope for a long time.

I only have a problem with crosshairs if they are illuminated

I find your only reasonable solution is to send me the eotech and forget about it.

I have 20/20 but I see the same thing when looking at mine.. It's pretty minor but the dot doesn't look like a dot when I focus on it. It almost looks like 2 glaring dots next to eachother. Usually one side looks a little brighter than the other. And it does help me with the glare when I turn the brightness down

I actually spoke with my eye doctor today about it. He said I really don't have an astigmatism. Asked me which way it distorted. I told him it was usually in a vertical line. He asked if it ever appeared round I said no always a line sometimes kind of like two dots.

He saidy problem was most likely dry eye. Said to try natural tear drops next time right before I shoot and see if that makes it better.

Haha I thought dot reticles were supposed to be fuzzy and break up into multiple little dots !!! My Eotech has similar problem as OP.
I try changing the brightness and it usually corrects.

I have the same problem. I got a pair of glasses without the bifocal element (I use a progressive) and it helped. Also, lowering the intensity of the dot will make it sharper.

Best regards
