All I have to say is I freaking love Texas. Moved here almost 2 years ago from Cleveland, Ohio. I'm a late bloomer as far hunting is concerned. I was introduced to duck hunting 8 years ago and instantly caught the bug. I wanted to learn everything there was to learn about ducks and geese. My friends wanted to kill me because I carried a duck call everywhere with me trying to learn how to call. They would not let me take it in the duck blind for the first year lol. I moved to Houston for a job working with horses and managing an 80 acre family farm. I had all my decoys, calls, gear, gadgets and dog and was determined to find some hot spots. But upon arrival my boss told me they have had a problem with wild hogs. 'Wild hogs?'. Never heard of them. So I saw what damage they were causing so I set up some trail cameras. The first night there were 35 pigs on one camera and 15 on the other. Very confident I told my boss to get ready for some fresh bacon. This was going to be easy..... So I thought. My first 'hunt' was a **** show. I was not prepared at all. When I got out to the field I realized I only had one flash light. I made the decision to hang it in a tree pointing down at the feeder. I sat in the grass, with my dad's Browning BAR 30-06, for 6 hours. NOTHING! But I was determined. So 2 months later and buying my first AR-15 (DD M4A1) and my first thermal (ATN THOR HD) i finally killed my first pig(let). Weighing in at a whopping 30 lbs it was by far the most delicious, and most expensive, meat I've ever had . I've learned everything I know from you guys and I keep learning. So thank y'all. I've recently upgraded my thermal to a pulsar xq38lrf and am looking at upgrading to 7.62x39 ar. I hunt mostly solo since I don't really know anyone here and I've made a lot of mistakes on the way. But to say the least I LOVE KILLING PIGS IN TEXAS. Can't wait to get to know some of y'all. Be safe and God bless.

Lol it's all I do. I'm single with a dog and no kids. I hunt almost every night at the farm I work at and 3 other properties i've gotten permission. I definitely need a support group for my addiction.... Hence why I joined with y'all.

Welcome! You know, making mistakes can be the best way to learn. They often turn out to be lessons that you don't forget.

We all make mistakes, but the trick is to not make the same type of mistake over and over. :)

Yes sir. Thank you. Ya my mistakes turn out to be either lessons or funny stories. You're absolutely right about making the mistakes over and over, that's the definition of insanity. Thank you for the kind words.

Welcome!

Hog hunting can become an intense addiction! I just moved to KY for a job, and my biggest complaint about of State of Kentucky is the lack of hogs. KY does not recognize hogs as a game species, so I'll have little to no opportunity to hunt them here. I did get the lifetime license before I left Texas, so I can go back if I can ever find the time.
