Avoid flir customer service varies from non existant to questionable, there are a high number of units failing. Pulsar or trijicon are the only two quality choices out right now.

Of all the forums and groups i follow i have yet to see all issues with flir that todd is speaking about. I have the flir pts233 and love it for what it is.. no issues with holding zero like some of the pulsar trails i have seen people talk about. Would love to actually see all these issues people have with their flirs.
There was an update available and i emailed flir cs and within 2 days i had what i needed. Seemed pretty legit to me.

You got lucky. Most of those people talking about the pulsars holding zero were affiliated with certain other manufactures. Most of what I saw was people pulling shots in their videos and failing to accept they missed. Just wait for the amount of time the flir units have been out and the numbers in the field the percentage is not good. The few customers I was not able to talk out of buying flir have had a higher percentage of returns. Not to mention the lack of communication when. Ordering. I have a customer that pre paid for a 736 two months ago was told 7-10 business days, now two months later still no 736. I cant stand dealing with them. I have a whole shelf full of flirs, you know why because instead of just trying to sell what I have I tell people the truth. If anyone wants a Flir I'm a dealer and will sell them to you, but I advise people to stay away. I understand justification of a high dollar purchase and have even seen people who truly belive their ATN thermals are awesome also until they look through the competition, or have a problem.

I'd love to have a 35mm and 60mm reap ir on my two guns but there no way I can or would send $16000 to 18000 for the two scopes. That's why I went flir wanted more magnification than pulsar offers for one of them.So I'm hoping the customer service isn't as bad as you say or gets better if I need them.

Just got in a 536 today. Rainy, terrible, conditions and I have to say the image was still very nice looking at cattle all day. It looks like it’s going to fill my needs nicely.........an affordable second scope with more than 2-3x native mag. Will hunt with it this coming week.

The 736 is the only one I would consider it fills a very specialized role though. They have good image for 320 scopes but I would chose a xq50 trail anyday over a 536. I hope none of you have to experience the customer service. I guess I should just do like my competitors, just sell stuff and make money.

I have the Pulsar XQ50 trail and couldn't be more happy with it.. So far only shot out to 200yds with it, but would feel comfortable to maybe 300yds if I couldn't get me or them closer.. And Pulsar customer service is awesome, had an issue with a hand held, sent it in, and they sent me a new one.

On the not holding zero issue.. In my opinion it was real. Last year I secured a scope mount to a board, and used concrete screws to hold it to a large block of concrete so it was VERY sturdy.. I took the scope out of the 70 degree house to 30 degree outside, and mounted it. Didn't touch the unit even though it was sturdy, using the remote I took pics every few minutes. You could see the crosshairs creep down and left about 4" at 75 yards over 30 minutes. Same results 2 different days. HOWEVER, the firmware update sometime last year totally fixed the issue. I just had a test of this yesterday.. My trail has been on a 308 since summer, was dead on every time I used it. Yesterday I took it off and put it back on a 223, hasn't been on that rifle since summer. Left everything out in the 33 degree weather for a half hour or so, and took the first shot.. 1/4" left of center at 130 yds. Two more shots over another half hour, same thing, about a 1" group around the point of aim. So I'd say it's good to go.

It was a trade.

Todd if they un-F their customer service snd get their 640 models right they are going to still be a player. They have the capability. I started on Armasight scopes and still prefer that function and form.

Yes for 320 units they look good, I'm sure the 640 will be awesome. I keep hearing they are working o the customer service but I have seen no real improvement yet. The customer service is my main hang up with them. Well and their anti hunting stance.

Spent some time out with this scope last night and this morning in better conditions. It’s pretty much exactly what I wanted. But, like Todd said with the 736, the 536 is kind of a niche optic. It’s best at 80 to 100 yards out and even then the fov isn’t very wide; you wouldn’t want to try to shoot up sounders at 50 yards with it. To me it’s not a first choice for a general purpose hog hunting scope. I wanted more magnification for taking longer more precise shots. To me that’s what this scope is.
As Todd says Flir cs is pretty spotty and quite a few pts optics have had bugs. I have other thermals so it is worth a little risk to me.

FLIR seems to be making an effort to get customer service under control time will tell.
